John
Amaechi, an NBA basketball player, acknowledged that he is gay. Why should this matter? To be honest, it doesn't. John Amaechi made a choice to come forward. John Amaechi made a choice to say that he's gay. While he freed himself of whatever "burdens" he was carrying, others were letting loose with the ignorance!! What a big SHOCKER!!
LeBron James, however, said he didn’t think an openly gay person could survive in the league and worried about any players who have not revealed they are gay.
“With teammates you have to be trustworthy, and if you’re gay and you’re not admitting that you are, then you are not trustworthy,” James said. “So that’s like the No. 1 thing as teammates — we all trust each other. You’ve heard of the in-room, locker room code. What happens in the locker room stays in there. It’s a trust factor, honestly. A big trust factor.”
Really Mr. James? An openly gay man can't survive in the league? And why is that? Perhaps because of ignorant punks such as yourself? Perhaps because punks such as yourself are going to make his life a living hell? Why exactly is it that an openly gay person can't survive in a sport? Does the fact that he or she is gay make them any less of a person? Any less of an athlete? Any less of a role model? Any less of a hero?
John Amaechi isn't trustworthy? Why, because he didn't come to you first to tell you that he was gay? Why, because he chose to keep his private life to himself? Why, because you simply can't stand the fact that he's gay? John Amaechi is worth a billion times more than you are Mr. James. Do yourself a favor. Go back to school to get an education before you spout your mouth off about shit you have no clue about.
Injured Philadelphia Sixers forward Shavlik Randolph acknowledged it’s a new situation.
“As long as you don’t bring your gayness on me I’m fine,” Randolph said. “As far as business-wise, I’m sure I could play with him. But I think it would create a little awkwardness in the locker room.”
Yeah that's right Mr. Randolph!! All gay people try to force their "gayness" upon others. All gay people try to convert the straights!! Didn't you know that Mr. Randolph? All gay people think about is having sex. They can't walk past someone of the same sex without wanting to get it on!!
A little awkward in the locker room? Why? Are you afraid that John Amaechi is going to want to take a look at your "package"? Give me a break!!
“For real? He’s gay for real?” said Philadelphia center Steven Hunter, who added he would be fine with an openly gay teammate.
“As long as he don’t make any advances toward me I’m fine with it,” he said. “As long as he came to play basketball like a man and conducted himself like a good person, I’d be fine with it.”
Yeah, he wants you!! See, all gay people just can't help themselves!! He's not there to play basketball. He's there to get a date. He's not a good person. Didn't you know that all gay people are bad, bad, evil people? Didn't you know that?
God, I can't stand people like James, Hunter, and Randolph. They think that the only thing gay people do is hit on other people. They think that gay people "want" them. They think that gay people are evil. They disgust me!! And Pat Garrity doesn't make it any better when he says,
"That’s just how the world is right now." It doesn't help to excuse ignorant behavior with some weak comment like that's how the world is. As a human being which I would think he is, he has an obligation to combat ignorance. He has an obligation to do more than excuse this shit with a bullshit response.
I applaud John Amaechi for coming "out". There's no reason that he or anyone else should hide who they are. If you're hiding out of fear, don't!! If you're hiding out of shame, don't!! If you're hiding out of denial, don't!! Be yourself!! Who cares what others think!! You're a better person than those people will ever be, or hope to be!!
