Congress Will Likely Take Up Issue Of Racial Profiling

The Congress will likely take up the issue of racial profiling. I, for one, applaud the effort to address this issue. It's about time someone does.

Sure, you'll have the idiots out there who will argue that if we don't racially profile people then we might as well just hand over this country to the terrorists. Oh wait, here's one now!!

Peter Gadiel, of Kent, Conn., president of 9/11 Families for a Secure America, mocked the legislation.

"The 9/11 atrocity was committed by 19 young single men from Arab nations. If you want to hand this country over to terrorists, why don't you say it right out front?" said Gadiel, whose son, James, died in the attacks on the World Trade Center. "We don't have to worry about 80-year-old ladies with bleach-blonde hair and southern accents."

I always love the argument from the other side. It's always, "If you don't agree with our position, you're a terrorist sympathizer. You want to hand this country over to the terrorists. You don't care about America. You hate America. You support terrorism. You're a traitor." I could go on forever with the same old garbage that comes out of the mouths of people like this.

When you think that people who speak out against racial profiling want to hand this country over to terrorists, you're an idiot and you deserve to be labeled as such. When you make comments like "We don't have to worry about 80-year-old ladies with bleach-blonde hair and southern accents," you're an idiot and you deserve to be labeled as such.

This is not about 80-year-old ladies with bleach-blonde hair and southern accents. This is about racial profiling. It's unethical. It's unlawful. It's repulsive. Why aren't white people targeted? Oh yeah, they're not the "typical" terrorist so we don't have to worry about them. It's those damn Muslims that we have to be concerned about. After all, every Muslim is a terrorist. Every Muslim wants to destroy America. Don't you know that? Nevermind that we had our own little terrorist right here in the good old U.S.A. named Timothy McVeigh. Wait, wasn't he a white boy who had been in the military? Nah, he must have been one of those Muslims!! He wasn't? Well shoot!!

Timothy McVeigh is a good example of why racial profiling is NOT okay. While we're so busy profiling Muslims because they "fit" the profile of a terrorist, what's to stop another Timothy McVeigh from flying right below our radar? Nothing!! And people like Peter Gadiel will continue to insist that it's not the good old white boys who are the terrorists, it's only those evil Muslims.
