Religious And "Moral" Hypocrites
Don't you love them? I do!! I love to hate them!! So, what exactly am I talking about? I'm talking about the movie Hounddog which stars Dakota Fanning.
In the film, there is a scene in which Lewellen is raped. However, the actual rape isn't seen. All you see is Fanning's face and a hand. But the very fact that the character is a child and is raped has these religious and "moral" hypocrites bitching, and screaming "EXPLOITATION."
Leave it to those religious and "moral" people to bitch. I especially love that a Roman Catholic activist is demanding a federal investigation. Let me ask a few questions. When the wonderful priests and nuns were actually raping children, where was the outcry? Where was the demand for a federal investigation into actual REAL rapes of children? Where was the demand that something be done to stop it? Where was the demand for a boycott of Catholic churches? Oh, you don't have an answer? I'll tell you where all of this outcry was. It was nowhere, except probably amongst the victims and their families. These so-called activists don't give a damn about real child abuse or rape victims. They're too busy bitching about a damn movie to pay any attention to actual victims.
Has Ted Baehr seen the film? Most likely he hasn't. If he hasn't, he has no business commenting on what is or isn't shown in the film. For him to also suggest that Fanning is being exploited is so beyond ridiculous it's not even funny. If anyone is exploiting this child, it's the people who are attempting to further their religious and "moral" agendas.
How about an investigation into pedophile priests and nuns Mr. Donohue? How about an investigation into the cover-up of the crimes of these pedophile priests and nuns by Catholic churches all around the country, and straight on up to the Vatican?
Nah, these people would rather bitch about a movie. They would rather bitch about a character that isn't even real. They would rather bitch about a rape that never took place. They would rather bitch about "fantasy" as opposed to reality. The reality is, there are real child rape victims out there. There are real children out there that are being exploited on a daily basis. Where's the attention on these children? Nowhere because we're too busy bitching about a movie and a child actress who plays a character. If this movie can bring the spotlight on real victims, I say kudos to the actors/actresses, the movie, and the director. More power to them!!
Stop your bitching, and take on the real criminals instead of demanding the prosecution of a movie director!! Otherwise, shut up and go away!!
"Hounddog" is the story of Lewellen, a girl played by 12-year-old Dakota Fanning, who is growing up in the 1960s South. She is a free-spirit obsessed with Elvis Presley and has little supervision by her abusive father and alcoholic grandmother.

Even before the first screening of "Hounddog" at the Sundance Film Festival this week, a Christian film critic, citing Fanning's age, decried the movie as child abuse, and Roman Catholic activist Bill Donohue called for a federal investigation.

Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission and publisher of the Web site movieguide.org, claims "Hounddog" breaks federal child-pornography law. He said the law covers material that "appears" to show minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
"Even if they're not actually performing the explicit act, we are dealing with a legal issue here," he said.
Baehr said Fanning is being exploited in the film, and that it should be considered an outrage.
"Children at 12 do not have the ability to make the types of decisions that we're talking about here," he said. "If we're offended by some comedian's racial slur, why aren't we offended by somebody taking advantage of a 12-year-old child?"

Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, said he has asked the U.S. Justice Department to investigate whether anti-pornography laws have been broken.
