The Sad, Unfortunate Truth

The sad truth of the Virginia Tech Massacre is simple. The truth is that this will now go from remembering and honoring the victims, and it will become an attack on Asian people and non-citizens. Now that we know that the shooter was a permanent legal resident from South Korea, Asian people will be the subject of harassment, slander, attacks, or death. It happened after 9/11 to Muslims, Middle Eastern people, and even those who were deemed to be "foreign." Because of the actions of one person, sadly an entire group of people will now face the brunt of misguided, ignorant people.

I hope that it doesn't happen. But I know that it will. We have the nerve to say that the United States of America is the example for all of the world for what democracy and freedom is. We have the nerve to say that the United States of America is a beacon of hope for the rest of the world. Excuse me if I barf at that notion. Who would ever want to emulate us?
