New Orleans According To Google

New Orleans is all cleaned up after Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans has returned to the great city it was. If you believe that, I've got a broken levee to sell you. But apparently that's what Google wants you to believe.

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- Google's replacement of post-Hurricane Katrina satellite imagery on its map portal with images of the region before the storm does a "great injustice" to the storm's victims, a congressional subcommittee said.

Swapping the post-Katrina images and the ruin they revealed for others showing an idyllic city dumbfounded many locals and even sparked suspicions that the company and civic leaders were conspiring to portray the area's recovery progressing better than it really is.

This is absolutely disgusting. But I can't say that I'm surprised because I'm not. Ever since Hurricane Katrina struck, people in this country act like nothing ever happened. They refuse to acknowledge what happened in the aftermath of the hurricane. They refuse to accept responsibility for what happened in the aftermath of the hurricane. They refuse to acknowledge that people are still suffering as a result of the hurricane. People are still homeless. People are still living in shelters. People still don't know where their loved ones are, and whether they're dead or alive. People still don't know what happened to their homes and businesses. People still haven't been able to return to the city that they lived in. People are still seeking help, and are getting slapped in the face or completely ignored. And this isn't just New Orleans that I'm talking about. This is in every city that was affected by the hurricanes of 2005.

Do they not care that people relied on their maps to see if their homes or businesses still existed? Do they not care that people relied on that information to sustain them, to sustain their hopes and dreams? No, of course they don't care!! If they cared, they wouldn't have changed the images back to pre-Katrina time. If they cared, they would be honest. Instead, they don't even want to talk. They want to give some lame-ass excuse for what they did. It's disgusting and they make me sick. HOW FUCKING DARE THEY!! TO HELL WITH GOOGLE!!
