It's A Media Circus
Did you hear about the missing pregnant woman from Ohio? If you haven't, you apparently haven't been watching tv. It's all over the news.
Last night took the cake though!! It was reported that a baby was found on the doorstep of a home about 45 miles away from the city the pregnant woman lived in. The media automatically assumed that this was HER baby. I especially loved Anderson Cooper's show last night. Cooper was talking to the woman who found the baby. She said that she felt it wasn't the missing woman's baby. She felt that it was the baby of someone that she may have known over the years.
Cooper went on to interview an "expert" about the baby. He says, "I find it hard to believe that this is a coincidence." Jesus Christ, these people act as though this missing woman is the only damn pregnant woman in the entire country. Well, maybe that's a little bit of a stretch. But, they certainly act like this woman is the only pregnant woman in the city that she lived in, and the city in which the baby was found. Heck, I'd even say that they act like she is the only pregnant woman in the entire state of Ohio.
I realize that in situations like this, people will try to hang on to any piece of hope that they can. You have to. But come on!! Women give birth and give up their babies all the time. Some give them up for adoption after giving birth at a hospital. Some leave their babies on doorsteps. Some leave their babies at hospitals, fire stations, and police stations. Some leave their babies in stores. Others just dump their children. Is it really that big of a stretch to think that this may have been some teenage girl who didn't want anyone to know that she was pregnant so she gave birth and left the baby on this woman's doorstep? Is it really that big of a stretch to believe that this could have been a woman who was in a violent relationship, gave birth, and decided to leave the baby on this woman's doorstep? I don't think it's a stretch at all.
If we're going on the assumption that the woman was kidnapped in order to take her child, the theory that this is her baby doesn't add up. Why would someone kidnap her in order to get her child, but turn around and leave the baby on a doorstep? They wouldn't!! If the point was to get her child, they would keep it. They wouldn't give the baby up. If we're going on the assumption that she was murdered, that wouldn't be her baby either.
Look for her!! Find her!! But don't turn this into a media circus!! For the record, she's not the only missing person out there!! They shouldn't just be focusing on her. Everyone who is missing deserves as much attention as this story is getting.
