Michael Phelps Doesn't Deserve Medal

Michael Phelps doesn't deserve the medal that the U.S. men won for the four by one hundred meter freestyle event.

This isn't sour grapes. This isn't jealousy. This is simply my opinion, and should be reality. Michael Phelps doesn't deserve the medal for one reason. He didn't participate in the qualifying race that led up to the final for this event. I say that if you don't compete in the qualifying races, you shouldn't be allowed to be in the final.

The only reason he was on the team for the final in this event was so that he could have the opportunity to beat Mark Spitz's Olympic medal record. That's it, and that's BULLSHIT!! His selfishness cost a fellow team member the chance to get an Olympic medal.

If you think this had nothing to do with beating Mark Spitz's record, think again. Last night when the U.S. team won, the comment wasn't that the team won. It was, "Yes!! Michael Phelp's shot to beat the record is still alive."

Well, that is your opinion, but fortunately your opinion in many things aren't reality. I guess that you will just have to bitch and moan about it, because as we all know, you (not the universal you, the personal you) have no power to change things.

Ooh, what's the matter Whit? Did I strike a nerve? Did I tell the truth about your boy?

The REALITY of the situation is that Michael Phelps and the U.S. swimming officials SCREWED a fellow team member out of an Olympic medal for purely SELFISH reasons.

Michael Phelps had no business being on that relay team. He didn't participate in the qualifying race. His fellow team member helped get the U.S. into the final. Michael Phelps DIDN'T.

The American sense of entitlement is disgusting and delusional!!

Ian Crocker did receive a medal for the 4x100 Relay, so Michael Phelps cost him nothing (if anything, Phelps, who had a better butterfly at these Olympics by about the same margin of victory the US had over Australia, secured that medal for Crocker). Everyone who participated in the heats got a Gold Medal (Crocker, Mark Gangloff, Matt Grevers, Garrett Weber-Gale), and all they missed out on was being a part of the World Record.

So, I guess "the REALITY of the situation" is that you should stop being mad at Michael Phelps and apologize for being rude to whitthehitman.

I don't have to apologize to anyone!!

Michael Phelps only participated in the final. He didn't participate in qualifier. Crocker did. And I would like to point out that had it not been for Crocker, the United States may not have gotten to the final. So, I think Michael Phelps owes Crocker a huge thank you for giving him a medal that he didn't rightfully deserve!!
