Whose "Mistake" Is It Anyway?

Gotta ask that question today, thanks to yesterday's blog posting by Mike Malloy.

I won't recap my history with Mike because you've heard it a couple dozen times in the last year and five months.

The posting, callously and thoughtlessly titled "Oops, I Bombed You Again", a play on the title of a Britney Spears "hit" of yesteryear, talks about the Pentagon and their latest murderous bombing attack of the people of Afghanistan, massacring no less than fifty but maybe as many as 150 people in Ishaqzai and Agha Sahiban.

Mike took the Pentagon to the woodshed and ripped their ass open and rightly so.

But there's something missing from Mike's excoriation.

A name.

Obama.

See, during the past eight years, anytime bombs would drop from the sky and onto innocent people, it wasn't just the Pentagon that was at fault, it wasn't just Pentagon "officials" that were war criminals.

Bush and Cheney (and Powell and Rice and Wolfowitz and Perle and Rove) were lumped in with Rumsfeld and Gates as thugs that should be hauled before The Hague and, at best, tossed into a deep dark pit.

But not now.

Not with the Empire's New Clothes (as Paul Street has called Barack Obama in the past) in place.

You know the old saying. Barack Obama may be a son of a bitch but he's our son of a bitch.

Yeah, he's also our war criminal. The "best" one we've got at the current moment.

Don't say you weren't warned.
